Customer Support & Field Engineer
Basic Requirements
Key responsibilities:
Perform and provide leadership and guidance to other field staff in the following responsibilities:
Perform and provide leadership and guidance to other field staff in the following responsibilities:
- Provide system trouble-shooting and rectification of technical issues;
- Carry out a variety of tasks and provide high level support to modify, repair, maintain and install communication systems, equipment, parts and accessories;
- Analyse technical problems using test equipment and make "on-air tests" in accordance with customer operational environment;
- Diagnose and correct malfunctions in Motorola and other related third party system equipment including linking microwave, multiplexing equipment, RF antenna and power systems;
- Install, maintain and upgrade trunked system controllers, switches and routers associated with digital communications systems;
- Adhere to and ensure guidelines and procedures during installation and maintenance of site equipment as required are being followed by all staff;
- Identify and implement areas for improvement to ensure improved service quality and best practice delivery;
- Liaise with customers to discuss incident concerns or complaints, instigating corrective actions where required;
- Supervise and co-ordinate field duties with other field staff or sub-contractors;
- Complete and maintain written records and paperwork associated with work performed and closing out work tickets with remedial action taken;
- Ensure all operational documentations remain up to date and relevant;
- Prepare and conduct training when appropriate;
- Maintain an orderly and safe work area; properly care for company and customer property;
- Ensure Occupational Health and Safety guidelines are applied as appropriate or when working at remote locations;
- Work in partnership with project team
engineering members including:
- Review installation plan documentation;
- Review acceptance test plan procedures and methodologies;
- Review as-built documentation;
- Provide technical assistance during system trials and post-commissioning.
Essential:
- Recognized Qualifications in Communications Engineering or Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Networking Certification such as CCNA and / or Juniper JNCIA / JUNCIS
- Microsoft Client / Server Certification.
- ITIL V3 Foundation Certificate.
Essential:
- Minimum of 4 years experience in a radio communications service environment;
- Good understanding of communication systems and supporting sub systems such as microwave and power management;
- Familiarity with digital conventional and trunked radio systems (APCO25), IP architecture and networking (both wired and wireless);
- Equivalent on the job experience performing similar support role outlined in the Key Responsibilities, above;
- Understanding of RF principles and antenna system multi coupling;
- Understanding how to use digital communications test equipment and interpret results such as modulation constellation or antenna sweep graphs.
