Engineering Plastics Technical Support Engineer

Position Description:
The successful applicant will report to the Marketing & Sales Director of Polymers & Intermediates, and work with multiple functions to support the sales and marketing of Engineering Plastics. The Technical Support Engineer is accountable for ensuring that he supports the Nylon 6 and PolyMethyl MethAcrylate (pMMA) Sales groups within the business. The incumbent will have an excellent understanding of pMMA and/or Nylon 6 processing methods in fiber, extrusion compounding and injection molding. A good understanding of the various segments, and the value chain within the engineering plastics markets is important. Candidates should have prior exposure to the various end-segments especially construction, fiber and automotive segments that are relevant to the pMMA & Nylon 6 industry. Prior exposure to, and a sound understanding of automotive industry standards such as TS-16949, and the qualification procedures at various OEMs and Tier-1s are essential. Commercial experience in the relevant products with sizeable (to be defined) regional or global sales revenue responsibility is desired.
Minimum Requirements:
The successful candidate will possess B.S. in Engineering. MS or higher qualification is desirable.

Hold 10 years’ experience in Technical Support, preferably in engineering plastics or specialty elastomer sales or in a similar industrial environment.

Prior experience in a technical support function within the pMMA and/or Nylon 6 industry supporting molding and extrusion customers is important. Suitable candidates must have experience of the South East Asia market, and have relationships with customers using these materials.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will have a good understanding of actively supporting the marketing and sales function in pre-sales activities such as technical advice, competitor grades analysis, and value against competing materials, application development, and qualifications. Other aspects include post-sales activities such as complaint management, and troubleshooting. You will conduct the mapping of competitive products and maintain an active database of the same. Liaise with relevant stakeholders on the development of new products/ application based on market/ customer requirements (‘market pull’) for various regions. Ensure customer satisfaction. Implement relevant corporate policies (e.g. legal and safety) and conduct regular (annual) reviews of compliance in partnership with relevant stakeholders. Participate in relevant global exhibitions and trade shows with the regional sales managers.
