Laboratory Supervisor
The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for the following:
Supervise
laboratory operations, in line with Group HSSE requirements and the laboratory
HSSE plan, including the allocation of tasks and setting priorities, to provide
effective and efficient support to production activities.
Supervise, coach, and support the development of the laboratory shift leaders
and Technicians in the team.
Ensure the required tests for all products manufactured in the Plant are carried
out as stipulated in the LQS, before they are released for sale.
Ensure inspection tests on in-coming Base oils and additives are carried out
according to the requirements of the LQS, before they are approved for use in
the Plant.
Be personally competent to carry out all tests and release of product that may
be required of the laboratory.
Adjust lubricating oil formulations in the GSAP Bill Of Materials (BOM) arising
from change of components.
For off specification products, determining corrective action (uptreating,
reblending, working off, etc) to optimise cost to Shell while ensuring that
released products meet minimum requirements.
Ensure the testing requirements for plant operations are adequately always
supported, whilst closely managing to overtime to control costs.
Ensure adequate stocks of laboratory chemicals, gases, glassware, and instrument
spare parts, and arrange for replenishments when necessary.
Organize the release of laboratory instruments, apparatus, and thermometers for
calibration according to the schedule specified in the Laboratory Work
Instructions.
Oversee the processing of work orders and/or invoices arising from the purchase
of materials and services for the laboratory.
Participate in Quality KPIs; RFT, batch waivers, ETW & LLCS Score.
Participate in the renewal of ISO 9001 certificate
What we need from you?
A degree or
diploma in a scientific discipline, preferably in Chemistry - other disciplines
such as Engineering also possible.
Experienced Laboratory Supervisor, preferred in Oil and Gas industry
Preferred to be certified by Six Sigma
